PATENTING MADE EASY

Patenting Made Easy

A Practical Guide for Inventors – A New Way for Patents

Introduction: Before You Spend a Penny…

Patenting made easy shows you a sure-fire way of avoiding what most inventors face while keeping your costs low and your ideas safe.

OK!

You’ve recently had an idea that you’re hoping you can make some money from.

Or you’ve had an idea for quite some time, but you haven’t known what to do with it.

If that’s the case, you’re in very good company.

Every year, thousands of people come up with ideas for new products, improvements to existing products, clever gadgets, labour-saving devices and solutions to everyday problems.

Some ideas arrive suddenly. Others develop slowly over weeks, months or even years.

An invention can appear almost anywhere and anytime.

  • You might be repairing a broken appliance.
  • You might be working in the garden.
  • You might be driving your car.
  • You might wake up in the middle of the night and suddenly realise you’ve discovered a better way of doing something.

The excitement can be overwhelming.

Your mind races ahead.

You begin imagining the finished product sitting on a shop shelf. You picture television advertisements, successful sales and perhaps even a completely different future.

BUT… Then reality arrives.

There’s always a ‘BUT’, isn’t there?

Questions begin to appear in your mind.

  • Can I protect my idea?
  • Should I apply for a patent?
  • How much will it cost?
  • Who do I speak to?
  • Will someone steal my idea?
  • How do I know whether anyone will want it?
  • Can I approach a manufacturer directly?
  • Should I build a prototype?
  • I wonder how much it’ll make?

Before long, excitement gives way to uncertainty.

For many hopeful inventors, that’s where the journey ends.

Ideas are written down and then forgotten about. Sketches are pushed into drawers. Models are placed on shelves in garages and workshops.

This happens, not because the ideas are bad, not because the inventors lack creativity, but because the process of developing that idea appears far too daunting, expensive and complicated.

For more than a century, inventors have been encouraged to follow a familiar route.

  • Get a patent.
  • Protect your idea, your intellectual property.
  • Build a prototype.
  • Approach manufacturers.
  • Negotiate a licence.

On paper, that sounds perfectly reasonable.

Unfortunately, reality is often rather different.

  • Patent applications can be expensive.
  • Professional advice can be expensive.
  • Prototype development can be expensive.
  • Manufacturers seem to be few and far between, the ones who even answer you, that is, assuming you find one in the first place.

And there’s no guarantee that after spending that money or chasing that rainbow, you will have a successful product.

I’ve spent many years thinking about inventions, building inventions and watching inventors struggle with exactly the same problems I did.

One thing I’ve learned is that many inventors aren’t defeated by a lack of imagination.

It’s simply the doubt and uncertainty of it all.

They don’t know which path to follow.

This book isn’t an attack on patents.

Patents have an important place in the world of invention, and there are many situations in which they provide valuable protection, despite the fact they are not always necessary.

However, I know there is another way of approaching the process of developing ideas into products in a completely different order – with very little expense involved.

A simpler, less intimidating way.

A way that allows inventors to explore commercial opportunities before committing themselves to any expense before they know what’s really needed and if their idea is really worth pursuing.

Throughout this book, we’ll look at inventions from a different perspective to give you a better understanding of what is needed and what is not.

We’ll ask some difficult questions.

  • Do you always need a patent?
  • Should patenting always be the first step?
  • How can you test an idea before deciding to invest in it?
  • How do manufacturers really evaluate new products?

And perhaps most importantly, how do you avoid becoming discouraged before you’ve even begun?

This isn’t a legal textbook.

You won’t find pages filled with technical language and complicated legislation.

Instead, think of this book as a conversation between two inventors, myself and you, sitting at a kitchen table with a pot of tea between us.

  • I’ve made my share of mistakes.
  • I’ve had ideas that never progressed.
  • I’ve watched opportunities disappear.
  • I’ve learned that invention isn’t simply about brilliant ideas
  • I’ve also learned that the conventional way of dealing with patents is contrary to common sense and comes from an antiquated system from three centuries ago.

It’s about persistence, patience and understanding the journey properly.

Along the way, we’ll examine a different approach to inventing. We’ll explore methods of making ideas visible, testing commercial interest and building relationships with industry without immediately becoming trapped in a maze of legal procedures and rising costs.

Perhaps your idea will become a successful product.

Perhaps it won’t.

But one thing is certain.

You’ll never know unless you take the first step.

And that’s why I wrote this book.

I want to show you that inventing doesn’t have to be frightening.

You don’t need a degree in engineering.

You don’t need thousands of pounds sitting in your bank account.

And you certainly don’t need to understand every page of patent law before moving forward.

What you need is a sensible starting point.

That’s exactly what this book hopes to provide.

So, before you spend a penny, before you complete an application form and before you convince yourself that your idea isn’t good enough, let’s begin at the beginning.

You’ve had an idea…

Now let’s decide what to do next.

This is the introduction to my book on Amazon by the same title, written in the hope of explaining a far simpler system of getting developing ideas from brains onto shelves in shops, anywhere in the world.

It has taken the best part of nearly fifty years’ experience to come up with this method, after so many failures and frustrated attempts to get my ideas into practice, stumbling along, from problem to problem, that I had to learn to understand the “system” that was blocking my path.

This I achieved and this is my way of explaining the system to anyone interested in doing the same, getting products on shelves, plus I resolved an easier route altogether.

Besides this point, it also explains a worry-free method of approaching patents without having to spend a fortune for protection purposes first. In fact, costs can be eliminated altogether with a different approach to the conventional methods, dreamed up around three centuries ago.

This path has been open to anyone for eons, but it is not pushed by advisors because there is no money in it for them. They have produced their own barriers to confuse all, both legally and frustratingly, so their services seemed paramount.

It also shows a method of NOT having to deal with the necessary searching and testing the market before any huge financial burdens are in place, like patenting, solicitors, patent lawyers, confusing instructions, complicated drawings, submission forms and deep pockets to name but a few.

The principal of the book is to show the way, step-by-step, of travelling that journey in the simplest and least expensive way possible to get products from brain into shops, which also helps the advancement of mankind.

Many thanks for reading this post. If you want to see more the link for the book is TO BE HERE within the next few days, or I can be contacted by email on [email protected], or even pass this message on to your friends for their consideration.

Just drop me a line    No pushy selling.    No aggravation    No money grabbing.    Just a honest approach to solving many of he problems we face with Patenting, along with a simple path to take to get your products on the shelves.
